Chapter 5: Society and Inequality in Eurasia/North Africa

In the beginning of the chapter it was funny how the describes Chinas social as an Elite. It was believed because of the unique actions of the state. China had a very good political power.
I also read how Confucius advocated for the people. H requested for people to have immortality rather than birth or wealth. Those where weird belief because back in the time Philosophers believed in immortality.
In china the majority of the population consisted of peasants. Some peasants had enough land to sell on local markets but some others nearly had to give to there families. It was hard for people in that time because authorities demanded for taxes every month. There where even times when peasants had to sell their land and became workers for large landlords.
Also related to China is India in their social organization. In both organization birth determined the social status of a person. Birth dined pretty much how the person was going to live.
